The Race against Time

I respect the young driver of the bus, which took me from Kodungallur to Eranakulam (both places in Kerala). Not just because he was elder than me, but because he made me realise what ‘SPEED’ driving is. He indeed brought my world of virtual racing to reality. His race was not against fellow drivers on road, but against time. I realised that the bus was running late when I observed the hurry-burry. I am not sure if it was his fault or machine fault for the bus running late. (Luckily, I got the seat nearby the driver; I could observe his actions and reactions.) He exhibited his entire skills including drifts using the bus!

To my knowledge of the places I have visited, I found Kerala and especially that route I travelled; to be full of the most sharpest and dangerous curves (even ‘S’ turns). You will never know who is coming on the other side. Every corner has shops or walls that block our view. That dude, manoeuvred his ultimate vehicle with ease and with slightest thought of danger (I felt so). With efficient use of brake, clutch and accelerator, he took us to our destination in record time and kept his vehicle unscathed. (I should mention that the narrow roads were crowded with other motorists.

It looked as if the vehicles coming the other way were going under the bus. Such driving, I believe, is possible by only the one who has perfect and natural knowledge of the vehicles mechanism and its dimensions. After reaching the end of the ride, he looked at his wrist watch and heaved a sigh of relief. Then, he looked up out of the window as if thanking God Almighty. One thing for sure, I am never gonna try that on road!

Spiderman VS Venom!

The story that sets up the scenario for Spidey & Venom duel has changed through the ages. Its appearance in the movie is very much different from what it was in the comics. Even symbiot’s birth is different. Symbiot makes its appearance at the end in the comics.
Peter creates the black symbiot so that it can be his new suit (what about the old suit?). The old suit is damaged during Spidey’s duel with the bosses (Goblin, Scorpion, Doc Ock etc.). Symbiot’s birth was modified in the cartoon series. It is of alien origin as in the movie, but there ends the similarity. It comes to earth through a re-entry spaceship. The spaceship gets into trouble and our hero Spiderman saves the astronauts in it, but gets the symbiot on him. After that it’s somewhat the same.
With Venom’s birth, the story again changes. I don’t want to spoil the fun. Haven’t watched the Cartoon? There’s more fun and suspense in the cartoon with chaos spelt by Carnage. (Who’s Carnage?). What can I say, another symbiot! Watch the Cartoon! Watch the movie too.

SPIDEY BACK IN BLACK!

Tobey Maguire starer Spiderman-3 is out and turning out to be successful. The story itself deals more about Peter, Spiderman and his dark side Symbiot Spidey and how Peter strikes a balance between the three lives before he comes to now that the Symbiot does more harm than good. Symbiot, as in the movie is shown to be of alien origin to have come from outer space accompanied by a meteor that crashes on earth. It finds its host, Peter, and smoothly bonds with him. Symbiot is a living creature and has the ability to think for itself. Peter finds Symbiot helpful at first as it makes his costume cooler, him stronger and invulnerable! But slowly he realises that Symbiot is taking over him and he is turning towards his darker self like in Prince of Persia - the Two Thrones.

He tries to break free from his alien bond. He also realises that sonic vibrations irritates the Symbiot. It is necessary for him as the Symbiots mind and thinking power is stronger and could remove the good Peter character for ever.

The story itself is not about Spidey fighting Sandman, Goblin 2 or Venom (Venom? I will tell you what that is!). It is about Peter’s revenge on the man who kills his uncle in Spiderman 1. (When did he become Sandman?). That person, (Flinto Marko) gets into a particle accelerator and changs into Sandman, recking havoc. Meanwhile there is Harry, Peter’s friend who seeks revenge. He believes that Peter killed his dad. (Goblin had killed himself in the first movie). Harry ropes in Goblin’s mask to take revenge.

With all this trouble, Peter has to handle the Symbiot. Eddie Brock is an extremely important character, without whom the plot would not have become so interesting, both in the movie as well as the cartoon. (The story is entirely different in the cartoon, which is even more thrilling with Carnage to help Venom). Eddie’s life is ruined by Peter. Eddie does not know that Peter is Spidey, but is constantly in trouble due to both. He loses his job, reputation everything. He wants to get Peter killed.

When Peter rips off Symbiot from himself, Eddie happens to be there. He realises Peter dual life. But fate be, Symbiot takes refuge in Eddie. Eddie loves his new friend. Symbiot obtains the traits of Spidey powers which it had obtained during his partnership with Peter. Eddie and Symbiot, together name themselves Venom and addresses as ‘we’ and not ‘I’. Equal importance right! Venom causes more trouble to Peter because Venom offs Spidey’s Spidey sense and is even stronger.

With three villans to fight Spidey has enough work to do! What happens, who helps Spidey out, who survives the fierce battle that follows, makes up the thrill of the story. With two love interests (Two? Mary Jane’s one, who is the other? Well, find out!) This is one movie we will enjoy this summer. So pack up, and let’s turn the world upside down!
